Generic Yasmin

An Ethinyl estradiol birth control pill, Generic Yasmin has been successful in preventing unwanted pregnancy in women. It is a low dose birth control pill that should be started on the first day of your period.

With minimal side effects, Generic Yasmin is a combination drug. Combining estrogen and progestin, this birth control pill gives the liberty to a woman to choose her motherhood period. It enhances a woman's health and vigor as the pill lends a psychological advantage as well.

How it functions:
Yasmin birth control pills prevents pregnancy by making the body "believe" that it is pregnant. This stops the hormones from getting ready for fertilization by ovulation. Yasmin prevents the eggs from being fertilized.

It should however be noted that the drug takes time to be effective. It is advisable to employ other alternative means of birth control during the first five days of starting Yasmin.

Dosage:
Generic Yasmin is a prescription birth control pill and should be taken as per doctor's advice. One single course consists of one pill a day for 28 days, starting from the first day of period. It is important to take the pill at the same time each day.

If one dose is missed, it can be taken immediately. If the second dose is also due, then two pills can be taken together. If one misses more than three pills, medical help might be sought. The best time to take the pill is before sleeping.

Side effects:
The side effects of Yasmin are very inconsistent. It might occur in one female while completely sparing another. The side effects of Yasmin vary from mild to severe. The mild effects include mood swings, nausea, vomiting, cramps, tender breasts, bloating and others. There may be some severe side effects as well like dizziness, troubled sleep, pain in thighs and groin. These might need immediate medical attention.

Precautions:
The treating doctor should be apprised of your medical fitness, any heart ailments, gall bladder diseases, stroke, high cholesterol, irregular periods, diseases of vital organs, cancer and others.

Note:
Generic Yasmin does not protect against AIDS and other STDs. It may also be noted that woman on birth control pill for over a year may have a delayed pregnancy.
